Doug Elser, CPA

Doug has been a CPA working in tax and accounting since 1969.  He worked for a Big 4 firm for 10 years before moving to the Ann Arbor area in 1975, and establishing the tax and accounting firm that is now known as Elser & Briggs, P.C.  Doug enjoys getting to know his individual and small business clients so he can provide personalized assistance with all their tax and accounting needs.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. Doug is an avid hiker and outdoorsman, who recently completed the Camino Frances, 500-mile trek across France and Spain.  Doug lives in Ann Arbor with his wife and is the proud grandfather of 3 beautiful granddaughters.

Lori Lobbestael, CPA

Lori is president and a shareholder of Elser & Briggs, P.C. and is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University.  Lori is a licensed CPA in the State of Michigan since 1990. With more than 35 years’ experience, Lori has provided tax and consulting services to individuals and small businesses in many different industries.  She enjoys getting to know her clients. Lori most enjoys putting all the pieces together with a client’s team of advisors and coming up with tax planning strategies and solutions.  Lori is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning.

Kristine Paul, CPA

Kris is a licensed CPA and a shareholder at Elser & Briggs, P.C. She has been with the firm for 23 years and has been a shareholder since 2011.  Prior to working at Elser & Briggs, P.C. she worked for a Big 4 firm in the auditing field.  She graduated from the University of Michigan Business School. Kris enjoys working with closely held entities and has an expansive background consulting with LLCs, C and S corporations, partnerships, and individuals in many different industries.  Kris is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Katie Brinkman, CPA

Katie has been in the accounting profession since 2006.  She started her career at a Top 12 national firm working on a multitude of different clients and where she obtained her CPA certification in 2009.  She joined the Elser and Briggs team in 2013, so she could specialize in what she enjoys most, tax preparation and planning for individuals and small businesses. Katie is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Cynthia Dresch, CPA

Cindy is a licensed CPA and her career began in 1993. Cindy has experience in public accounting and private industry, bringing a unique perspective to her clients.  She specializes in individual and small business tax preparation.  Staying up to date on the latest industry and technical matters, Cindy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.  Cindy resides in Manchester with her husband and is a strong supporter of her community serving as a Village of Manchester Trustee and Treasurer of 5 Healthy Towns Foundation.

Sherri Marshall, CPA

Sherri is a licensed CPA and joined Elser & Briggs, P.C. in 2011.  She has been working in public accounting for various local CPA firms in Michigan and Washington since 1986.  She has experience in preparing individual, trust, estate, C and S corporations and partnership returns.  Sherri obtained a Master of Science in Taxation in 2011 and enjoys researching unusual tax situations and assisting clients with challenging issues.    Sherri is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Joshua McCarley, CPA

Josh is a licensed CPA and joined Elser & Briggs, P.C. in 2021. Josh graduated from Siena Heights University and has over 10 years of public accounting, governmental, healthcare, not-for-profit, and private company experience in the areas of tax, audit, and financial analysis. Prior to joining the firm Josh worked for the University of Michigan in Risk Management.  Josh has also worked for a Top 10 national firm. Process improvement and automation are primary objectives Josh has for each client including implementing QuickBooks Online, meaningful reporting, and bill payment solutions.  Josh enjoys working with closely held entities and has an expansive background consulting with LLCs, C and S corporations, partnerships, and individuals.  Josh is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Katelyn Paul

Katelyn is a recent graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a Master of Science in Taxation.  She first started preparing taxes at a Fortune 500 company in 2020 before joining the Elser & Briggs, P.C. team in 2021. She supports the office by helping clients at the front desk as well as assisting in tax preparation and planning throughout the year. She is a candidate for the CPA exam and plans to continue working at Elser & Briggs, P.C. for many years to come.
